2007 Guide to Polk – mention of USFL Library

We were very pleased to see the new USF Lakeland Library mentioned in the 2007 edition of the Guide to Polk, published by The Ledger this weekend (see the column on USF Lakeland, p77.).

We regretably have to correct a fact: the USFL Library at this point does not contain 27,880 volumes as cited. Our collection is comprised of some 4,800 books. We also have over 100 active subscriptions to scholarly journals and professional serial publications and about 40 scientific DVDs and videos. Our collection is still small but it is growing each week with new materials.

Of course, members of the USF community also have access to the resources of the whole USF Libraries system: some 2 million volumes and an extensive collection of electronic resources including approximately 6,500 e-journal subscriptions and 500 aggregator databases containing another 13,000 unique e-journal titles, 48,000 e-books, and 150,000 digital images. In addition, students have access to over 65,000 audio/visual materials including videos, CDs, and DVDs.
