World News Connection is an online news service that provides translated and English-language news and information from an extensive array of providers. It is particularly effective in its coverage of local media sources, allowing a researcher to determine what is happening on the ground in a specific country or region.
Compiled from thousands of non-U.S. media sources, the information from World News Connection covers significant socio-economic, political, scientific, technical, and environmental issues and events. The material in this resource is provided to the National Technical Information Service (NTIS) by the Open Source Center (OSC), a U.S. government agency. For over 60 years, analysts from domestic and overseas bureaus have monitored timely and pertinent open-source materials, including gray literature. The information is obtained from full text and summaries of newspaper articles, conference proceedings, television and radio broadcasts, periodicals, and non-classified technical reports. Information is entered into World News Connection on the hour, every day and is available within 24-72 hours from the time of original publication or broadcast. Most of the articles included in World News Connection are in full-text format. Some are excerpted and are noted as such.
World News Connection was acquired by USF Sarasota-Manatee on behalf of the USF Libraries.
