Libraries’ server maintenance

Next Tuesday, March 25, 2008, there will be a morning maintenance window on the servers in the Libraries between 5:30 AM and 6:30 AM. Some servers (web services, proxy server, etc.) may experience some very brief hiccups during the period.

Trial database: PsychiatryOnline.com

PsychiatryOnline features online access to DSM-IV-TR, a widely used psychiatric reference and The American Journal of Psychiatry from American Psychiatric Publishing, Inc. Beyond these two significant resources this site also provides access to:

  • Reference Resources– including DSM-IV-TR, DSM-IV-TR Casebook and its Treatment Companion, and the American Psychiatric Association Practice Guidelines for the Treatment of Psychiatric Disorders
  • Journals– including The American Journal of Psychiatry and Psychiatric Services
  • Textbooks– including The American Psychiatric Publishing Textbook of Clinical Psychiatry
  • Self-assessment tools for study, board certification and recertification review, and lifelong learning
  • Clinical & research news from Psychiatric News

This trial will expire on April 10, 2008.

For these databases and other library resources visit the USF Lakeland Library website. Click on “Search the Databases”.

Grove Music Online – new interface

Grove Music Online, a database available through the USF Libraries, will sport a new interface at the end of March due to moving to a new provider, Oxford Music Online. To leave ample time to adjust to the new site, the current version of Grove Music Online will remain available at the old location through June 30th.

Grove Music Online is the online version of the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, a reference title acknowledged as the unsurpassed authority on all aspects of music. This 2nd edition combines the scholarship of the first edition with research on emerging composers, performers, musical trends, and non-Western and popular music. It features the complete text of the print version with full-text searching; links to thousands of images, digital sound and related sites; and quarterly updates to biographies, bibliographies, and work-lists.

You can access the USF Libraries databases using from the USF Lakeland Library website.

Email server down

The USF email server is currently down. If you have sent an email to the Library last evening or this morning, please be patient. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Book Drop

Please note of the following guidelines regarding the USFL Library book drop in the visitor’s parking lot.

  • the book drop is for USF books only. The PCC Library has its own book drop at its entrance.
  • the book drop is emptied once a day only, Monday through Friday, at approximately 9:30 AM. Items put in the drop box after that time will be checked in the library system the following day (or the next day the library is open in case of week-ends and holidays). Take this in consideration if you are returning items near their due date.
  • you can return books from all USF Libraries in the drop box – namely the Lakeland Library, the Tampa Main Library, the St. Petersburg Poynter Library, the Sarasota/Manatee Cook Library, the Shimberg Health Sciences Library and the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute Library.
  • however, please return the following at the front desk, to avoid additional late fines and/or damage fees:
    • videos, DVDs, CDs and all other non-book items
    • items on reserve
    • items received by inter-library loan (ILL)
    • non-standard size items like “big books” and kits

Thank you for your collaboration!
